Hotfix

I  uploaded a couple of hot fixes today to fix some problems introduced in the new update:

- Menu no longer resets to windowed on game restart

- Fixed counters (counters are meant to skip frames to be faster, but the animations were resetting resulting in nerfed speed)

- You can now return to the menu after dying in Survival

Also there's a quit button now.

Hey man, I downloaded this game in early 2021 and I love it! Such a fun way to pass the time. And the graphics are simple, yet beautiful, I love all the attention to detail to small things like the water reflections and the blood splatter physics. Everything worked as expected, but recently, the game has been running pretty slow. It's not unplayable, but it definitely makes it slightly frustrating and less entertaining. I tried changing the sleep margin to 10, but that doesn't fix the issue. I don't know if it's an issue with the game or with my device, all I know is that it used to work up until a month ago...

Hey, dude, sorry I didn't make good on my promise yet. Corona times are hard. I didn't forget about it and I'll make good on it as soon as the situation allows me. I tried to offer some support to new players to compensate a small bit, although I would have done it anyway since I love the game. I wrote here so I don't spam the main page. Hope you see it.

Feedback update regarding the stamina system, as you requested, and bug report:

My girlfriend thanks you for the update and she likes the new stuff like the custom background and post-kill dismemberment. The stamina system didn't seem to affect our gameplay in any particular way. If anything, if the defender is disadvantaged from continuous blocking (probably being the more skilled player if he can block multiple attacks in a row and probably doing it for swag/practice without counterattacking, speaking from experience :)) ), it's kind of a good thing because it reinforces one of my favorite things about the game - the fact that it reduces the skill gap between veteran gamers and new gamers, so less skilled player can find enjoyment in a competitive game. My girlfriend runs from competitive games like they're Satan, this is an exception.

Subjectively speaking, for some reason, I would still prefer not to be punished for blocking, probably because I'm a very competitive gamer and don't like being punished for being skillful, but it's something very minor an I have no idea if this would make the game better or worse. My more objective opinion is that, like I said, at least it gives the less skilled player a better shot at winning, which is probably good. Most people playing this will most likely be of different skill levels and they have to both be able to enjoy it.

Bug report: The custom background changes to a normal background every few dozens of rounds, then changes back to the custom one the next round, at least in versus mode.

And I also love the custom background feature! It opens it up to a lot of fun, personalized stuff! Reminds me of Virtua Fighter 2, where I'd fiddle with the .bmp files to impress my friends about my "hacking" skills :)) (I'm not that old, but I had a super-crap second hand PC that could only run old games in my childhood).

Hey man, thanks again for the detailed feedback. I'm glad you both like it.

It sounds like the changes are working as intended but I'll be considering how they might be improved.

When the background changed, was it to one of the blood backgrounds? I'm pretty sure those are set up to be truly random, so they'll show up 1/100 times regardless of stage settings.

Oh, yes, I'm 99% sure it was the blood background.
